Laura Williams leads the Authentic Learning Alliance, helping schools and educational organizations design learning experiences where students contribute to meaningful work in their communities and beyond. She collaborates with educators and partners to create opportunities for students to apply skills, explore careers, and make a visible impact through authentic projects. After a decade with Iowa’s Area Education Agencies (AEAs), Laura continues her mission through the Authentic Learning Alliance. She supports educators globally through professional learning, consulting, instructional design, and speaking engagements. A certified Scrum Master, Product Owner, and Agile Classrooms Teacher Trainer, Laura brings expertise in authentic learning, agile education, and student-centered instruction. Her background in teaching, leadership, and design fuels a practical, collaborative approach that empowers educators to foster student ownership, collaboration, and purpose-driven learning. Laura is the author of The Improvement Game: Exploring Education Through Passion, Agility, and Authentic Learning Experiences, a guide to designing engaging, student-led work aligned with real-world needs. She holds licensure as a K–12 Principal and Special Education Supervisor and has earned master’s degrees in Teaching and Learning and in Educational Policy and Leadership. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education from the University of Iowa.

John is an Agile coach, educator, and product leader on a mission to make learning and work more effective, engaging, and outcome-driven. He’s worked with top companies like Netflix, Microsoft, and Zoom while pioneering Agile in K–12 education worldwide.

Eddie Etsey is the Associate Athletics Director for Technology and Data Science for Iowa Athletics, where he leads innovation across digital operations, event technologies, and strategic data initiatives for the Iowa Hawkeye. A proud University of Iowa alumnus, Eddie brings has 25 years of leadership and service management experience, having previously led technology integration and service delivery in healthcare, athletics, and university-wide initiatives. Mallory Hanson is the Regional Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator for Northeast Iowa Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D). Hanson graduated from Luther College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2010 and has worked in the economic development and public service field since 2011.

Kat — Cultivating Voice, Vision, and Equity in the Classroom
Kat is an educator, curriculum designer, and cultural leader whose pedagogy centers student voice, authentic learning, and inclusive representation. Grounded in Rudine Sims Bishop’s theory of windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors, Kat curates texts and experiences that reflect students’ identities, offer insight into others’ lives, and open doors to new ways of thinking. Her classroom is a space of inquiry and empowerment—where students do the intellectual heavy lifting and teachers facilitate discovery.

Ted Samaras is an instructional technology coach, author, and public speaker from New Jersey, USA and two time Educational Support Professional of the Year in Franklin Township Public Schools (2024, 2018). He is also the author of the children’s book, “I’ll Visit Space from Here!”

Dr. Marc Isseks is a third-generation educator with 30 years of experience. He has served as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, and building administrator in Brooklyn and Long Island. Marc is passionate about sharing strategies to increase engagement and ensuring that schools cultivate the nurturing and invigorating learning environment every student deserves.

Melissa Haberichter is a certified Scrum Master, instructional coach, and entrepreneurial mindset educator with over 20 years in rural K–12 education. She helps connect learning to real-world purpose through authentic engagement. Passionate about impacting student outcomes, Melissa enjoys being a thought partner to like-minded educators working to create systems that spark ownership, agency, and lasting impact.
